There are many literatures on green management and sustainable development of enterprises. However, these studies have elaborated the importance of green management to the sustainable development of enterprises from a certain point of view (Mustapha, Manan, Alwi, 2017). There are not lots of researches which systematically expound the roles that green management plays in enterprises’ sustainable development strategy, and to what extent it is important. In this study, it will take literatures relating to green management and sustainable development as the research objects, according to content analysis to carry out quantitative and qualitative analysis on the literatures, and finally based on the results of the content analysis to systematically describe the roles that green management plays in enterprises’ sustainable development strategy.
Sustainable development is a new concept put forward by people in the 1980s with the extensive discussion of global environmental and development issues (Zhang et al., 2017). It is a long-term and profound reflection on the traditional development mode (Weichhart et al., 2016). The United Nations Conference on Environment and Development (UNCED) held in Rio de Janeiro in 1992 took sustainable development as a common development strategy for mankind towards the twenty-first century and, for the first time in human history, the concept of sustainable development strategies was implemented (Dvořáková and Zborková, 2014). In 1987, Barbier et al. published a series of articles on economic and environmental sustainability, which attracted the attention of the international community (Zhang et al., 2017). In the same year, Ms Gro Harlem Brundtland formally presented the concept of sustainable development in the "Our Common Future" of the World Commission on Environment and Development, marking the emergence of sustainable development theory (Weichhart et al., 2016). The research focus of sustainable development of enterprises is how to adapt and meet the carrying capacity of ecological environment while realizing the coordinated development of enterprises, environment, ecology and resources while pursuing economic growth.
In this study, it will search about 50 pieces of literatures, it will be mainly from the three dimensions to carry out content analysis towards the literatures. Firstly, it is from time dimension to analyze changes in the roles of green management in enterprises’ sustainable development strategy since the 1990s. Secondly, according to the characteristics of different industries, it analyzes the roles of green management in enterprises’ sustainable development strategy. Finally, it will be from the perspectives of decision-making, production technology, product, production waste utilization and corporate image to explore the roles of green management in the sustainable development strategy of enterprises. All literatures will be coded in the form of an article number - chapter number for statistical analysis.
