The course writing 39B deepens my writing skills in the rhetorical analysis and broadens my knowledge of the rhetorical devices and how to effectively use them,which is an important writing skill.In the rhetorical analysis paper,I choose to analyze how the author effectively satirizes the totalitarianism in the world famous dystopian fiction Brave New World.It is basically rhetorical in practice and rhetoric analysis.This assignment as a rhetorical practice helps me to better understand the rhetoric analysis and practice the critical reading skill.This paper based on the analysis of rhetorical device in the Brave New World helps me to explore the conventions of dystopian fiction novel and carefully analyze this novel focusing on the genre conventions.After this writing class and its assignment,I find the topic of dystopia less abstract and more concrete.
Of course,there are some weaknesses and strengths in my rhetorical analysis paper,so in the final reflection,I’m going to give a detailed reflection on my writing process and revision process.The writing process included four stages,through which the audience can learn my writing process and thought.As to the revision process,I mainly focus on the analysis of thesis,sentence structure,and grammars,through which I explain my writing problems in my first draft and my improved version in the final draft.What’more,it is an important lesson to know my writing strengths and weaknesses,so that in my future writings,I can take full advantage of my strengths,and improve my weaknesses.From this writing course and my writing reflection,I not only learned the writing skill of rhetorical analysis but also realized my writing disadvantages.I hope in the following assignments,I can make a better improvement in the writing skills.From the way of reading,researching and expressing ideas,this writing class gradually influences me to organize my thoughts in a more appropriate way.
